Every journey worth taking starts with a step.
Paulina Nicholson is a licensed professional counselor in Fort Worth, Texas, for clients struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, and life transitions.
Let’s learn to mend what’s been broken.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing pottery by taking the broken pieces and putting them back together with gold or silver lacquer. The art teaches us that the piece is “more beautiful for having been broken.” This is why my logo is of a broken clay pot: There is freedom and healing in embracing the messy, broken parts of our stories and piecing them back together in a meaningful way.
What to expect
In your first few sessions, I spend time getting to know you and your story to learn how you got to be who you are, as well as the pain points that brought you into counseling.
This process is important because we have to understand the contributing factors and beliefs that influence your current behaviors.
Next, we’ll establish the goals that will guide our future sessions. We’ll focus on deconstructing ineffective beliefs and replacing them with effective ways of thinking.
We’ll then work on turning insight into action through taking practical steps. This often includes learning skills in areas like interpersonal effectiveness, mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and more.
As you begin incorporating these new beliefs and behaviors into daily living, you’ll begin experiencing the healthy lifestyle you’re looking for.
Cultivate the life you want in every stage.

Play Therapy
I help children ages 6 to 12 build skills that equip them to deal with the feelings that they’re experiencing for the first time through play, a child’s most natural way to engage with life.
-
Teens
I help teen girls as they learn how to have a healthy relationship with themselves, peers, and parents, and as they gain the skills they need to be successful adults.
-
Adult Women
I help women navigate the transition into adulthood — from beginning college to beginning their career, exploring singleness, marriage, community, and beyond.
About Paulina
My goal as a counselor is to help clients gain the insight and skills they need to successfully overcome life’s trials. Through the therapeutic relationship, we will work to change old patterns and begin living in new ways that lead to more effective results.
In my practice, I counsel from a Christ-centered perspective, where I professionally integrate faith and psychology. However, I see clients from all backgrounds and respect the right of each client to include faith as little or as much as desired.

FAQs
-
Each 50-minute session costs $130. As a fully licensed counselor, I bring years of experience and research-backed modalities that help improve mental health for my clients.
-
I do not accept insurance, but I can provide you with a “super bill” for each session that you can file with your insurance provider for reimbursement.
-
You can cancel or reschedule an appointment up to 24 hours in advance by going to your client portal. If you don’t cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance, and you don’t have an emergency, I’ll charge the card on file for a missed session since I wasn’t able to see another client during that time.

Under the No Surprises Act (H.R. 133, effective January 1, 2022), health care providers need to give clients or patients who do not have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. This Good Faith Estimate (GFE) shows the costs of items and services you can reasonably expect for your health care needs. You have the right to receive a GFE for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. The GFE does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. To learn more, go to cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
